Vice President (Global) Professor Sarah Todd explains what makes Griffith University a truly remarkable place to study. Including our global rankings, award-winning teachers, world-class facilities, research excellence and five campuses offering a unique study experience.
Studying at Griffith University was the best academic experience I’ve had in my life. I was able to excel in my studies with the encouragement and support from the academic staff, administrative staff, my family and friends.
I’ve become more open-hearted and independent enough to live in a foreign country. I had many occasions where I had to take a step outside my comfort zone and I learned to work with people who think and behave differently.
GELI activities were always fun. There are many kinds of activities such as the Chinese New Year Festival, volunteering, and the café chat. Through joining these endeavours, I got many friends who are not in the same class. Moreover, I spent more time speaking English with my friends while enjoying fun activities.
On the open day, all the nurses were telling us about patient-saving care and how to help them and how it's all about community and giving back to the society, and about being part of such a great community like the Gold Coast where I live - then, I just thought that’s where I belong, that’s where I wanted to go.
I was really happy to move onto the campus. Griffith Mates, an organisation of Griffith International, helped me a lot in my initial transition - with enrollment in my courses, they took me on campus tours and tours to the city and kind of made me feel welcome and showed me the Australian culture.
