The Landing School

"The Landing School is a special place for me. On a September morning almost 30 years ago I walked into a shop here at the School and was asked to do something that seemed impossible at the time: work with two strangers and within a few months convert a pile of rough cut wood into the highest quality sailing craft."

The Wooden Boat Building program is in many ways the Renaissance program of the school, combining elements of each program.

Whether you want to own and maintain your own boat, want to purchase and restore a boat, do woodworking around your home, aspire to build your own fine furniture, the skills you acquire here at The Landing School will follow you home after work and continue to add value to your life.

The York County Coast Star made a visit to our campus in Arundel to learn how sustainability practices are helping us shape the future of boat building and design. A prominent feature of the resulting article was our green lobster boat, now being built in collaboration with Maine Maritime Academy thanks to a grant from the Maine Economic Improvement Fund.
