The international community at Otago is very welcoming. Meeting so many people from all over the world with different cultures and interests really changes the way you think about the world and yourself in a positive way.
I chose Otago for the international and multicultural opportunities. I lived at the university's college for postgraduates with people from 38 countries and had 6 nationalities in my Master's cohort. I've learned a bit of Te Reo, and had the chance to explore beautiful Dunedin and the South Island with so many different people. I couldn't have hoped for a better postgraduate experience.
All facilities we have at Otago have shown incredible support for all volunteering projects I am involved with. The vibrant environment keeps me pumped with ideas. Volunteering at Otago have made me a person who "sees and cares" and always is brave enough to devote my little effort for every positive change.
Studying at Otago has been an interesting challenge for me so far because the academic level exceeds my expectation. Being surrounded by inspiring academic staff and fellow curious students really motivates me to do my very best, which makes Otago a great study environment for me.
After completing one year at the University of Otago I realised it was one of my best decisions I have made in my life. When I look back at the year, it has been extremely exciting. Time flew away too fast.
I’ve made some great friends in New Zealand and I've loved every second of it.
I’m already sort of on an exchange to NZ, why should I go on another exchange? Well, why not? One can never get enough exchanges. Being an International Business major, it made sense to put myself out there as much as I could. However, the most valuable thing I’ve gained through this was far from academics, but the ability to adapt to different cultures and ways of doing things.
I studied Foundation last year. I like the programme because it prepared me so well to enter University. I stayed in a home-stay and my host parents treated me really well. I like the study environment. The people in Dunedin are really friendly.
