As a Griffith Mate, I’ve been able to improve my self-confidence and my public speaking skills. I met amazing people throughout the program who are a part of my network now.
Being a Griffith Mate is a wonderful opportunity to share your experience with students from all over the world and I highly recommend it to all the students of Griffith University.

I have started my Griffith University journey from Griffith College. I came there straight from high school and they gave me the foundation of my Griffith University program. I believe that after Griffith College I was more familiar with the Australian education system, and I felt more confident and prepared to enter the university life at Griffith.

As the CEO of Sunfarmer, Avishek is leading a team who have implemented over 1,600 solar energy projects for hospitals, some of which have only ever had 15 hours of power a day, schools in local communities, government buildings, farms and water and sanitation facilities.
“The most important lesson my professors taught me at Murdoch was a holistic approach towards implementing any project. We need to understand and integrate four pillars – technical, social, environmental, and political and economic aspects. This has been my main mantra and approach to any work or project I am involved with. “It was a great opportunity to get exposure to international education and learn about things that we are not aware of, and to find out about things that we can adopt in our country to create ample benefits.”

There are two memories relating to my semester abroad that are really important: my Southeast Asia trip and my big trip to Australia with my friends from Germany. In all, we took in Bali, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand because to go there from Australia was relatively cheap. Then afterwards, I came back and I travelled around Australia with two friends from Germany for five weeks. Studying abroad made those experiences possible. As a Griffith Mate, I love helping students settle in to life in Australia and university. The Mates are such a wonderful, tight-knit family and are always a friendly face on campus. Not only is it an amazing opportunity to make new friends, but the experiences and leadership skills I have gained are immensely useful in improving my employability.

I chose to study at Griffith University in Queensland because it has great weather. My friends studied here already, and recommended me. Griffith’s support services helped me at the start when I wasn’t used to how university worked especially in a totally new country like Australia.

The global research reputation and academic staff at Griffith are why I chose to study in Brisbane. A highlight of studying at Griffith University has been making many good international and domestic friends, particularly by being a Brisbane International Student Ambassador in 2016.

"Curtin was my dream university since I passed my undergraduate degree. I got to know from an education fair that Curtin is ranked on the top 1% of the world's universities, which attracted me a lot. There, the English Language Bridging Course gave me an opportunity to not only improve myself on academic skills, but also it taught me how to carry out multiple tasks at a time, handling stressful situations. If you're thinking about a career in Curtin University, you are leading yourself along the right path."

The highlight of my Griffith experience so far is that I've got to connected and become friends with students from many backgrounds. Their stories and experiences help to enrich my knowledge and perspectives. It is also that I've had opportunities to contribute to support other students to enjoy their university lives, for example, being a part of the Griffith Mates.

At first, I really couldn't adapt to such a strange and stressful learning model as I had to complete some quizzes and difficult essays within the specified time. After completing these assignments, I had to review the lecture notes to get prepared for the final exam. Sometimes unprecedented learning patterns and language barriers made me feel helpless and stressful. But after some time, I found the shortcomings of my study and gradually found a learning method that was suitable for me.
