I chose to study at MIC because of the connections I had with the college. My home college, Gannon University, and MIC are already in the process of building closer ties through the Arts, Education, and Theatre Programmes. As I am a theatre actor, I always appreciate the worldly opportunities that can be pursued abroad. I value studying in a different country because of all the new outlooks on things I thought I already knew!

Studying abroad always seemed like an opportunity that was so far away but I have always been interested in everything about Ireland. Just seeing the country, I wanted to experience it for myself. One of my main concerns leaving was that I am very involved on campus through clubs, organizations, working, service, everything imaginable. But being over here, I’m kind of getting a break from all that. Everything will still be there when I get back. I just get this amazing experience in the meantime. Happy to represent St. Norbert College, here at Mary Immaculate College!

"Coming from a school where the student body is over 35,000 strong, it was quite a change of pace coming to MIC, which has around 3,000 students. But I loved it! There was not one person on staff that I encountered who was unkind. Everyone, including the students, often went out of their way to help you out, if asked."

"My study abroad experience at Mary I was so fulfilling and life-changing. Everyone I met in the International Office quickly became my friends and were beyond kind and accommodating. My time in Ireland has helped shaped me and taught me more about myself as a student and a person than I thought possible. It was truly the time of my life."

"My time at MIC was nothing short of wonderful. I had the most amazing opportunity as an older student to not only study abroad but bring my 8-year-old daughter along with me. As scared as I was to go on this adventure, I don’t regret it for one second, and I would do it all over again. The international office here immediately made me feel at home. Studying in Ireland was one of the best experiences of my life."

"Coming from so far away, I was concerned about feeling homesick. However, the staff at Mary I became very much like family. I was warmly welcomed and knew that if I ever needed to talk with someone or a hug, I could always count on Ger, Holly, Ben and Seamus. It was comforting to have a wonderful network of people at Mary I and know that I now have an Irish family too."

"The educational system at MIC is simply perfect and it made me realise that the smaller the college the better. I had the opportunity to make loads of friends both Irish and international, and together we travelled around the country during our free time, learned about the Irish culture, making the best memories ever. And the great thing of it all is that I had the opportunity to learn the basics of the Irish language, so Go raibh mile maith agat MIC!"

"The culture is very different from where I come from, I'm still trying to get used to the lingo and the different phrases that the Irish use. The International Office has been very supportive, and the students as well. It's been great."
